Default Kids Sentenced to Life without Parole.

Okay before you all start thinking the wolf dude is going soft I ain't. Being part of this site just made me challenge some of my long held beleifs and I am still in process of doing so.

I saw a web ad for a chap who was just a kid of 17 when he commited murder. Now it looks like he is in prison for the rest of his life. Now I am not saying he does not belong there. I guess I remember the animal I was when I was 17, all the fights and some of them where I did serious harm. I was saved by the context of the fights. I DID always wait till I was attacked first before doing way too much damage in response just never went to prison for it. I saw lots of psychologist's and medical doctors but never a prison cell.

I found one guy who murdered as a kid to use an example.

Lost Soul,
6'1" inch, 205 lbs. Brown hair and brown eyed Florida boy looking for someone with a heart.

Have been doing time since the age of seventeen for my mistakes, and at the age of twenty three have a new outlook on life. I enjoy lifting weights and sports and writing people from all over the world. Looking for someone to give me a second chance to prove that I have a soft and kind heart and for that special someone to gently touch it. It means a lot to a young man in prison to have a letter in his mail box from a caring person from time to time, and will respond to all that write. Will exchange photo's, one for one, You first.
Your friend,

"Hope to hear from you soon"!

Now my heart just crys out for him as he in effect died before his life even began. This kid never got a chance to live. He threw it all away before even really having the chance to sample the joys of living. He will grow into an adult get old and maybe even die without knowing the world beyond his cell.

I am not talking about the fairness of his sentence if he killed he likely got his just deserts. I am just sad that he wasted his life before even having the chance of experiencing what it means to live. Its like throwing away a blank signed check made out to you that you can legally endorse. His life could have been anything and because of s foolish act he turned it into nothing.

I guess I feel more for guys like him because, I know how close I came to being what he is and all that saved me were doctors. I look at this guy and hear my great grandmothers words, "There but by the go I". Few things affecting human being ever make it down to this cold lone wolf heart of mine but this kids story almost makes me want to cry and alternately bash a wall in out of sheer sympathy pain.

Gosh somebody here PLEASE comment on this post. Essexgirl Please maam can you say something about this. My heart actually hurts so much for this dude I'd welcome an attack on my motives morals anything just to divert my attention. Like I said if in placing him in prison for life justice was served I am ok with it, I am just sad for him. I guess I look into his words and see myself way too clearly. If ever I wanted to give a man a totally non-sexual hug and handshake its this guy.

Thanks for listening all... Much Love.

I hear what you say about him wasting his life like that - and I agree.

What I wonder though is what drove him to this crime ? Why did he commit it ? People really don't kill for no reason (unless they have a serious mental illness) so I wonder what pushed him over the edge.

Stuck record time: Until the world deals with these issues, and addresses the CAUSES of crime, people will carry on committing them.

The lifer I write to is in the same situation. At the age of 23 he committed an act that will keep him behind bars for the rest of his natural born life. He's 33 today. Breaks my heart all over again every time I think about it because we have all done incredibly stupid things in our youth...difference between me and him at 23 being I never had access to ammunition.

Wolfie I feel what your saying an it does make you hurt to know they were young when the crime was commited and they won't ever know life outside that cell, and other things that people out here take for granted like holding his first child in his arms.

CJ I bet it was drugs and booze it seems like most of the DR inmates it always leads back to that.
