Kansas State professor convicted of murdering ex-wife LAWRENCE, Kan. A Kansas State University professor has been convicted of killing his former wife out of fear he'd lose custody of their daughter.
A jury found Thomas Murray guilty on the third day of deliberations. Prosecutors say the English professor researched murder techniques on the Internet, then bludgeoned and stabbed his former wife to death in her farmhouse in November 2003.
The victim, Carmin Ross, was a former Kansas State administrator. The couple shared custody of their then-four-year-old daughter. Ross was planning to remarry and move to California.
The school fired Murray after his conviction. He faces life in prison with possible parole in 25 years.
Ross' father says he's "relieved" and thinks the jury "did a wonderful job." But he says the verdict still won't bring his daughter back.
