Default Inmate Started Job

James starte working yesterday. He was very much like a lost puppy. But caught on quick and by the end of the day he seemed just like one of the guys. It was along day for him 12 hours on his first day. The Co told me that James eat his lunch, showered and was sounded asleep with in an hour of his return. But was up and ready to go by 9 PM. He was not due to leave until 11 PM. The Co said he would not shut up about all the new things he was learning and how great evey one treated him. I must admit he is the most excited person I have every seen about getting a very hard dirty hot and sweaty job. But he has not backed up from a thing. He looks like someone who had a fight with the dirty monster and lost. But He feels great about just being able to work and be accpeted by the people he is working with. He figured out how much he will earn this week and was really excited until I told him about taxes, Fed, State, local then social security and union dues. Nothing like bursting a bollon. But he needs to understand the facts of living not so free in the out side world. But he is planning on doing some clothes shopping on our first weekend together the 4th of july weekend no less. He is calling it freedom weekend. Fitting I guess. Well all the news for now.

Mike in Pa.

Mike, I am so glad that he is doing well so far!!! How excited he must be for that first shopping trip! I know that it might be a dirty job LOL, but ya know..he has the right attitude and spirit! So So So GREAT to hear!!! Im really looking forward to seeing how things progress, and you make sure to tell him that we are all here and absolutely THRILLED for him! Yeah...taxes etc etc really put a damper on things..LOL...but Ill bet he loves the fact that he is making his own money to begin with that he can actually touch after being locked down! I know that in Pa. the inmates arent even allowed to touch currency at visitation... *shrugs* Anyways! KEEP US POSTED! *smiles* Have a good one *K*
