| I have received the same in first letters. I thank them for their letter yet underline that Iseek pen freinds and I am not a post office, financial institution, halfway house nor a dating service. For me this is just part of the writing experience. Some will write back and say I misunderstood what they were asking for, I just laugh and shred their letter! EVERYONE gets one reply letter as so few answer my introduction letters, yet after a "not for me or us" letter, it is off to City of Houston Recyle center! |

| You could also send this letter to the warden. What this guy is doing is a big No, No, and he could lose his writing priveleges. Like someone said, how many people is he hitting on? He might have a million dollar bank account in Switzerland.

| I think that they are in prison and they may think they have nothing to lose. If they write to someone who sends them money then it is worth it on their part. I received a statement from an inmate after writing an introduction letter to him and he asked if I was the type of person who supported inmates with tvs etc. The statement had on it what he owed the state and how much he had paid back. He said this was to show me how hard it was for him to write to people, especially to those overseas. The letter didnt insult me at all, as I guess lots of people in prison have nothing to lose and are desperate, besides the fact there are plenty who will send money without any true connection being made first. I wrote back to him and explained that I would be willing to be a penpal and that was all. I told him I found his ad on Write a prisoner not sponsor a prisoner. I also suggested if he did not have the means to write overseas then perhaps he change his profile to such. I can understand being insulted by letters of demand but try not to take it to heart and remember there are many genuine people in prison who need pure and simple friendship so keep trying!!!! |

| There are plenty of people in prison that in fact do very well financially by openly asking for money. A few years ago in Missouri one woman was found to have over $11,000 in her inmate account, built up from years of soliciting her pals. It was pretty much what led to Missouri banning the inmates from using sites like this one. |

| GPL A few TX DR convicts have very large sums in thier accounts . One has a rather large gruopie follwing mostly because he is young, to them good looking and very articualte . His cult is like groupies are very devoted and will do almost any thing he asks . A number are banned from all contact with any one in TDCJ .One has publicly posted now that she has a new last name and address she can get around the ban ! . I have no doubt should he or they find a way they would unquestionably try to help facilitate his escape . That is the level of devotion of his cult like following. ![]() He is very manipulative and cunning he plays them all very well . His blog is both very distributing and manipulative . He was on 20 /20 and described his crime in a matter of fact manner . It was as if I was describing to some one I went to get gas and groceries this morning ! Why he needs thousands is beyond me . At most he can spend $ 170 a month they can spend up to $ 85 every two weeks if the are not on some sort of restriction . I understand the above convict also has had his ahem "legal funds account" link on his blog shut down due to complaints he had a Pay Pal account set up for his "Legal funds ". In other words "you" send money he via his gruopies spends it as he pleases . One does not just set up some sort of "legal defense account ' it is very involved . To TDCJs credit they do not ban all offenders from sites such as this but STG investigates the offenders getting large amounts . It is a major case in TDCJ to ask any one n ot on your visiting list for anything . Most offenders in TDCJ have $100 or less in their accounts at any given time . This is according to TDCJ it self . They would have reason to exaggerate not state offenders overall are not getting thousands deposited on their books . DR is a different matter .According to TDCJ not one DR offender is indigent ! I think it is easy to guess where their funds are coming from . It is one thing to help once in a while another to be sending hundreds of dollars every month .

| That's real cheeky. There have been some good suggestions on how to handle it though. Not that I think he would ask, but I've made it quite clear to my PP that I don't money to send, yea an odd present every now and again, but that's about it. I think he's rather I spent my money on mad nights out and then tell him about it |

| If I ever got a letter like that, it would go in the trash...I wouldn't even waste my time with this dude...I have had my share of stupid guys send me letters...I have never had anything like this though...I like Skye's and Peanut's ideas...this guy seems like he isn't into pen-paling for making friends or finding out about how other people are...he just wants people to give him money and to do things for him...he must have been raised that way... |
