| Ash, that may have well been me. As i posted that only a while ago. It's very true. My pal is a model resident but who gives? it means nothing when you are Out Of State. I received 2 letters today and one said how even a 73 year old man was transfered with them.

| lulu, as far as i understand that is very true when you transfer a resident from facility to facility within the State. That is why many do indeed transfer because they may have changed classifications. You have so many points in the state system and when you loose those points or gain you are then transfered to other facilities with the right classification to house you. You can also request the facility you wish to be placed in, but that is never a given either. Aquarius, one thing you come to learn VERY QUICKLY, is the Justice System does NOT run on fairness.

| That’s where my confusion comes in. I understand what you are saying and the logic to some degree but say you are in one facility, work hard at bettering yourself or at least not being a disciplinary problem and in doing so reduce your custody level. Then you get moved and suddenly need to start all over again at the new facility as a high threat level inmate? That seems unfair but I know prison isn’t fair either. If it was a temporary situation meaning they required that you have your privileges revoked until you settle in with the new inmates and surroundings and then they give them back to you slowly, fine. But to just make someone start over seems a bit harsh.

| lulu, i asked my friend about how it is now he is in another state, how does the order work. This is his reply........ "With all the guys making a mark for themselves it means i have to stay on my toes and be watchful. Most including myself don't have to go through that because so many are here that know you or know of you. So now guys in other states talk to me like they've known me for years. What i really appreciate most is how all are fully aware of the changes i have made - some of the (gang name) are mad at me of course, but people still seek me out for guidance and advice - funny how that has followed me. A guy from ***** said "H is a life coach" after he overheard me talking to someone and that has stuck now so they're calling me a life coach.(smiles) It is not all dandy though, but i will navigate through and let it be known where my life is today and why"......... He has given me permission to share any or all parts of any of his letters, as he trusts my judgment - his words

| Asha, my friend was long term min, and he went over night to max through no wrong doing of his own, other than to demonstrate he is a model prisoner that not only was involved with helping the men in the system, but those young kids in the free world as well. Even taking part in making a documentary for them. He had a good job, even. Now he has no job, no income, none of the small luxuries he had before. Not even being able to keep his hard covered books. No clothes.....the list is endless of the changes, that's not even about how he is housed, with whom and so much more. I think i need to shut up now.......

| So was that done to him simply because he was moved or was it punishment for some perceived wrongdoing in the system's eyes? I mean by helping out other inmates etc?

| No he was just moved out of state with the rest of the guys from memory about 230 i think. He is heavily involved with some people within the prison system that reach out and help others, mainly the youth and young offenders.

| Cool. Thats really great. I mean the reaching out to help others. I know that can be done at their own risk as well so thats why I asked but it sounds like what he was doing was all whithin prison guidelines.
