Florida death row inmate freed Raiford, Florida-AP -- A man who spent 16 years on Florida's death row is out of prison.
Rudolph Holton was released yesterday after prosecutors in Tampa said they didn't have enough evidence to retry him in the 1986 killing of a teenager.
Holton says he's "on top of the world." He says he's craving an ice cream bar and baby back ribs, and is looking forward to watching the Super Bowl on television.
Holton was convicted of raping and killing a 17-year-old prostitute and setting her on fire. About ten days before she died, the young woman told police another man raped her. Holton's attorney was never given that report.
Because of that error, the Florida Supreme Court ruled in December that Holton deserved a new trial.
