Someone told me there was a new law that just passed about Federal inmates now only have to do 1/3 of there time, Has anyone heard of this new law?

There are always wild rumors that circulate within prisons about reduced sentences and broad amnesties. I haven't heard anything about a reduction in Federal sentences, in fact, the news has run several articles recently that suggest the exact opposite - that sentences are being MORE stringently enforced and judges that dish out light sentences are being publicly chastised by the Republican administration for being "soft" on crime.

If there was ANY softening of sentences, the right-wing media (such as Fox News) would be jumping all over the story! It would be front-page news!

I'm sorry if my above post comes off as such a downer, but the trend is still toward longer sentences, not shorter.

I truly wish that the "old-fashioned liberal concept" of reform and rehabilitation of criminals would return. But that is not going to happen any time soon.
