| THOMSON, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities have captured an escaped inmate who slipped out of the McDuffie County jail last week through an unlocked door. William Busbee was caught Saturday evening just outside of town after being on the loose for two days. The 29-year-old man from North Augusta, S.C., was being held at the jail on an armed robbery charge. Sheriff Logan Marshall says a man saw Busbee by the roadside wearing the orange jumpsuit issued to him at the jail and called police. The sheriff has asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into the escape, which happened with two jailers on duty. Neither jailer has been suspended. http://www.11alive.com/news/article_...storyid=106997

| I wonder what the deal was with the two jailer guys? I imagine someone was supossed to be making sure doors were secure. I bet they will blame each other when questioned about it lol.

| Well, let's not rush to judgment. Look at a few facts here (since there are VERY few to look at) - TWO days later, the guy is still in his orange jail jumpsuit - not generally what one would wear after an "assisted" escape. An unlocked door - no indication as to what door it was - may have been mere negligence on the part of a jailer or even a trustee inmate. Neither jailer has been suspended - a good indication that SOMEBODY has at least initially investigated enough to consider that there may NOT be some inside assistance. Calling in the GBI (GA Bureau of Investigation) to look into the escape - a two-fold approach - to be SURE that there was no "assisted" escape, and, if not, to assure the public that there was no culpability on the part of the jail staff, but rather a need to beef up security and staff training. On the other hand, if the GBI determines that the escape was "assisted", the responsibility of legal sanctions then falls upon a "higher power". Typically, especially under Georgia law, a jailer will only be suspended in this kind of situation when there is a suspicion of involvement. That suspicion has to be arrived at by an investigating authority within the department. In short, one is SUPPOSED to be considered "innocent until proven guilty". As a former inmate, I would hope that you would apply the same principles that you would have wanted applied to you. If one has had bad experiences with someone in law enforcement or the legal system, it is unfair to paint them all with the same broad brush, just as none of you would want all prisoners to be considered the low-life, good-for-nothing, scourge of the earth that many people insist is ALWAYS the case. | I wouldn't be too quick to toss the orange suit, especially walking around butt naked as they have NOTHING on underneath.

| That’s easier said than done though. Okay so imagine you just kind of slipped out the back door at county and now you are wandering around aimlessly. The reason they put them in those bright orange nightmares is so they stand out in the event of this occurring lol. They are pretty much unmistakable. So in that case how are you going to get new clothes? You might get lucky or something and sneak up on a Goodwill and steal something but aside from finding clothes on the ground someplace, yur pretty much screwed.
