Yep. This story hit the headlines, here, also. I would say that the Texas DOC has a lot of egg all over their face. It is almost unimaginable, that someone who had just been convicted, could walk out of a courthouse, and escape.

Apparently he was drunk on the phone and it was an easy capture, no one harmed etc.

If I ever get caught, I will remember not to drink.
Sheesh! How dumb can you get?

I heard on the news this morning (I live in Houston) that they believe two ladies from an anti-death penalty website assisted him in his escape. This is just speculation at this point but they are pretty certain that he could not have pulled off this escape by himself.

Yes, I heard about it here in PA. Kinda scary, but I BET HE HAD THE TIME OF HIS LIFE WHEN HE WAS FREE FOR THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.

I seriously doubt he had the time of his life, he knows escaping caused his family and loved ones a great deal of pain, he escaped from the jail where he was housed for his re trial, im sure his future appeals will be affected by these actions. I'm sure he spent his hours of freedom looking over his shoulder and in a hightened state of alert, he fully admits his crime, its not like he believes he's innocent. I'm sure in some way his escaping will have a negative flow on effect to some of those on texas death row, and those still in that jail, and he has to live with the fact he is responsible.
