I would like to establish a correspondence with an incarcerated person, but would like to get to know the person better prior to giving out my home address. I was under the impression some prisoners had access to computers. Is there a way to establish an email correspondence first?

As far as I am aware they have no access to computers or to e-mail.
I wish my pp did have access to e-mail, it would be sooooo much quicker than the old snail mail.

No prisoners have internet access. You can get a PO Box, though :-)

Actually it happens, but I don't think it is supposed to happen. It's not the norm in almost every facility.

Some websites do allow the first letter to be through email but after that you usually have to write through mail. i doubt most prisoners have access to email anyway. id also reccomend a PO box . I have one of those and even though i do trust the people i write to..it helps me feel safer ~!
