Hi I am a new member to this community. I would like to spark a debate the case in Connecticut recently that killed 3 people and then burned their houses down. What sentence do you think these scumbags deserve? Personally I think they should be executed. Matter of fact any murder crime should result in the killer being executed. I am sick of murderers pleading "Insanity". I think that is biggest load of crap ever. Do you agree or disagree with me? Lets see what everyone thinks.

This is the thing. I was one of those people that was against the death penalty for a very long time. I just dont feel its a good idea for the state to have the power to take a citizens life. I would say just lock them up forever. Also, what purpose does it serve to kill another human? Now you have the dead victims, the grieving families on both sides, its just barbaric and not the right way to handle things.

I felt like this for a good many years of my adult life. Then I caught that John Cuhey (I cant find the spelling on his name). I watched it on Court TV day after day. I watched this man scribble like a child in coloring books while the details of his crime were gone over. I just couldnt take it. This man, kidnapped, raped and then buried alive a little girl in Florida. They knew she was alive because her little fingers had torn through the plastic black trash bag he tied her hands in. I would pull the trigger myself on this beast.

Naive answer,,, murder is wrong ,,

Anyone who commits a crime of murder cannot be sane... to what degree???t to get the insanity plea,,, psychiatrist grp should determine plus past" behavior and if treated or recognized in past..if insane should be treated and locked up,,,as such,,, to protect public.

Sentencing time should be determined by type murder ,,not black and white lots of gray area's,,, to consider....why we have degrees of murder.

Murder unfortunately has to be acceptable in war and in self defense,,or at the moment of the crime,,self defense,,,,otherwise it becomes premeditated,,,,other rational methods,,used if after the fact, if not at the time of the crime.. ,,,
Understand the emotions of what we would like to do to them though,,, for sure ,,,but,otherwise,we are the sane ones I would think,,,hope ,,

When it is against an innocent child or handicapped or elderly,,, life w/o parole,,,,or serial killings,,, mass killings ,,,,,worse then the DP anyhow,, why so many commit suicide while inside,,or like Dalhmer,,, something so hideous they are not going to survive long even inside the walls,,,,

This topic has come up so many times,, you could read the archives and find all the different views there,,, this topic is a heated one,,, to much so ,,, for it not to start some problems,,,see what happens and some have been over this so many times they will bypass,,,,,,,,,

Hello and welcome. I rarely involve myself in debates but you did not ask for one, you asked for an opinion. That I will gladly offer.

I do not support the death penalty because I do not support violence. My point is not that he does not deserve to die. Perhaps he does, perhaps not. My point is that what I must do in order to allow someone to be murdered in my name, which I do as a member of a society that allows such things, is a violent act against my self - against my self image. I did not have a choice about what the murderer's act, but I have a choice about my actions.

To support the death penalty is to support murder. I must desensitize myself and my heart in order to do so and that is an act of violence that I can avoid.

I DISAGREE with your opinion, and maybe if you stick around long enough to get to know the people personally that you call "scumbags and murderers" and understand the TRUE meaning of the DEATH PENALTY and the destruction it causes many, including the innocent family members, not to mention those that have been MURDERED by the State. Maybe you will "see" things in a different light.

See this annoys me because in my opinion he was trying to get insanity plea but in reality,he just wanted to save his own hide after killing an innocent girl. Thanks for the opinions.

So you know who I’m talking about? How do you spell his name? Anyway, your guess is as good as mine on what was going through his head. His attorneys were probably just trying the best they could to get life. I think for certain though all that coloring nonsense was being played up for the jury to make him look more child like and mentally compromised. Please...it was sickening. All it did was drive me crazy because I kept thinking that little girl will never be able to color again. I fought hard on this one and it goes against my nature but that man is looking at solitary confinement the rest of his natural life until an inmate takes him out anyway. I wouldn’t blame that inmate, that’s for sure. Sorry Smiley I respect your beliefs but it was unbearable. I’m not going to argue this one though.

I'm not interested in a debate, but I was curious about your intentions at WAP. Of course everyone is welcome, as far as I know, but mostly this is a support forum for those who write prisoners. This website runs because inmates pay ads in hopes of some sort of human contact. It seemed you really just wanted to "spark" a debate and get people going by generalizing an entire category of inmates as scumbags and murderers. Lots of people here have penpals you would fit into that category and I don't really take kindly to that. Also, I think it's really ignorant to say you don't believe in a mental illness or disease of insanity, since it's a medical fact that people suffer from such a disease. I don't know much about you, but you remind me of a person one of my penpals told me about that wrote to them specifically for the purpose of berating them and telling them what an awful person they are.
