I thought I would start a thread about the Court T.V. message on the WAP homepage. I was thinking of several shows on Court T.V. that I feel are very negative toward criminals as well as defendants not yet convicted of any crime. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on whether this program being made by Court T.V. would shed a positive light on writing to inmates and relationships between an inmate and person not in prison. Also, if anyone feels comfortable sharing whether they were thinking on participating, I think that might be interesting to discuss as well. Thanks!

NOt if that damn Nancy Grace has anything to do with it, it won't. If WAP is working with court tv on this, then I have a hope it might be positive. If court tv were simply soliciting couples I'd have some concerns. However you're right, they have an overwhelmingly negative view of prisoners in general. It's a tough call, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Not watched court T.V, so i cannot really give an opinion on that one.
What i do believe is, many times the stories that sell are not what is the actual truth/facts for those involved. Only what the viewer percieves to be the truth. Reporters have a funny way of distorting the facts many a time. Well that is my belief.

Who in their right mind would sign up for something like this.

Those who have been coming here for a long time have seen it all before.

One television show after another painting us like hopeless miserable misfits who have no friends and are forced to write inmates and build relationships with them because we are so lonely and inadequate we cannot get people outside to like us.

So if that is how you want to be portrayed to the world, by all means sign up and more power to you.

As for me...well I have better things to do...like putting the finishing touches on my Pals application for sentence reduction...deciding what my family is going to send her for Christmas...mindless lonely stuff like that.

By the way...I am not all that impressed that WAP would participate in a project like this knowing what happens when we participate in these kind of programs.

Just my thoughts.
