My TX PP was looking forward to going back to the county jail, when she was hoping for a retrial. She said that it was a lot nicer than the Big House. That would have been in New Braunfels. I'm not sure what county that would be. But, it makes me wonder if they might not have different rules in different counties, just like the state prisons vary from state to state. I know that it was easier for her family to visit her, there, and she didn't say anything about non contact visits for them. Of course, at Mountain View, family had contact visits, also.

all the county ones i have been to have been behind glass and they were limited to 2-3 20 min visits per week. 20 min doesn't seem long but when you have to sit on that hard metal seat 20 min is a loooong time LOL. My ex said that he would rather be in prison than county that they have more privledges in prison.

I think the difference may be the sheriff decides what can be done and not.

Lulu that is correct who ever runs the county lock up usually a sheriff decides the policies . There are some state and federal guidelines they are supposed to follow Though that does not always happen .

Sunray I agree, from what I understand it is is a hellhole they can't wait to catch chain to TDCJ . Same goes for Harris county ,you are hoping TDCJ will send a chain van or bus to get you ASAP ! That says a lot about how bad those lock ups are when you can't wait catch chain to TDCJ .
