| Hi bishop You are not the only one that has sent things that aren`t allowed. Its not all that easy working out what you can and can`t send! I looked up the DOC website before I sent blank cards to my pp. It said I could send 10. I sent 8 cards. With envelopes. But, they meant 10 including the envelopes! So, they were sent back to me. I have had letters sent back that had little Xmas stickers on the envelopes, cards sent back that were considered "lewd", even tho they were just silly cartoon figures; cards sent back because they were expensive cards, and I had put them in a padded envelope to protect them. I sent books that were not given to my pp because I sent more than 4. It`s easy to send the 'wrong" thing; and to make it even harder, it varies from state to state! Its a learning experience! |

| Hi bishop. I posted to your other thread as well, but thought I should add it here too just in case. I've had the same problems as feline. I found a package of 12 pieces of stationery, 12 envelopes, and 12 blank note cards that I thought my Pen Pal would like. The rules for her prison specified ten pieces. I figure that no one is going to get bent out of shape over two additional pieces! WRONG!! I sent them an email just to be sure. It took several days to get a terse reply. "Ten means ten, not twelve! No boxes (packages) means no boxes! Send it and the inmate will get in trouble".` I understand that what they are concerned about is getting a ream of paper and case of envelopes dropped off at the mail room, but a little common sense should preavail. WRONG! Common sense is one of the first casualties of prison. I paid them back by designing custom stationery on my computer and second sheet. Now I send her ten sheets a week! She must have sationery coming out her ears by this time! LOL! Tom
