an FYI for anyone who agrees DR inmates should be permitted to hug their loved ones :-)

Today I was told there was going to be a meeting of the board which will decide if Death Row inmates in Mansfield Ohio will be permitted to have contact visits at long last. I dont know when the meeting is, only that it is soon.

I have been asked to have the petition sent in for this meeting......so I am urging as many people as possible to sign it.

The petition will continue despite it being sent in and there will be a cover letter going in with the petition also explaining that the petition is ongoing.

This is important for the inmates and their families. The guys are excited that people care enough to fight for this for them.

This thread is afwul close. I live about 20 minutes away from the 2 prisons in mansfield. Yeah, mansfield ohio has 2 prisons, back to back. And the maximum security prison was built on hte grounds of the old reformatory, the one that was in shawshank redemption.Actually, certain parts were filmed there. Like the yard, the wardens offices, parole baord, library, and the cafeteria in the movie, it was the gaurd room. and the room was right smack in the middle of the 2 main cell blocks. Actually, you can still go thru that building. They offer tours. Been there, done that.

we must live right near each other :-) Yeah I know about the tours at the old Ohio State Reformitory...I believe they do ghost hunts there or something?

The do have ghost tours and a haunted prison tour every october. Its real popular. I am about 20 minutes south of the prisons in Mansfield. So that probably tells ya just about were I am at.....lol

cooldude if I knew my north from my south I might be able to pinpoint ya! Lucky for you I'm directionally challenged! :-P I have heard the Halloween haunted prison thing is really scary. OSR is scary looking period.

osr is about 120 years old, if not older. You can see the difference in the 2 cell blocks in the administration building. One is made with bricks, the other one, the east cell block is actually the biggest freestanding cell block ever made. That cell block is about 50 feet tall. which actually contains 6 tiers of cells. if you want to find out more, do a search on mansfield reformatory.
