I am confused as to if this is an actually working service or not?I mean how can it be so cheap when I am paying $8 per phone call to talk to my PP now?Does anyone have any input on the conscallhome service?

I looked into something similar I think and it goes like this.....they set you up with a number that is a LOCAL call to the prison. You tell them where he is and they get you a local number and then they call THAT number which will be forwarded to YOUR home phone or cell phone or whatever.

Thing is NY DOCS goes through Global Tel Link and they make you jump through hoops. They have to see a copy of your LAND LINE and I just don't know what these companies can provide that would make it appear you have a land line in that area. I'm in FL, boyfriend is in NY, but luckily my family is in NY and I had mom put in a phone line which is dedicated to me. Any calls to that number go right to my cell. I allow my mom to use it for outgoing long distance calls cause she has local service thru Lifeline. Anyway, I'm getting off track. If you have to go thru Global Tel I don't think you're going to be able to use any of those other services.

YMIHere is completely right. If the prison uses GTL as phone provider, you can't use the other services. They block forwarded calls. I tried to put up an account for John with a similar service, but had no chance and use GTL now. (Gosh, I don't even wanna think about the money it would have saved me )
Forwarding is actually a tricky subject at all. Most facilities don't like to see it and as far I know it's even not really allowed. That's why it's better to be very careful while talking with your pp about this subject, even if you can make it work.
Actually the company should be able to tell you, if you can use it for the facility your pp is located. Maybe you can send them an email and ask about it.

Yeah I have decided that I will just cut out all phone calls all together lol.I told my PP's(2) then I could put that money toward going to visit them!Going on the first visit Christmas day so Im going to need all the funds I can get lol.Phones are such a rip!!!!!!!!!

You are so right i once had a $300 phone bill the only pp that calls me now pays for the call and only when he has the money just like real life.

you can still use some "other" services while using GTL.
