Hi! I have a special PP at the Connally Unit Tx and am wondering if anyone else does to that way we could share info on the mail system. the mail ladies seem really confused about what is allowed to be sent. Has anyone ever send a care package of any kind to the CU?

You can not send ANYTHING Direct other than letters, cards and photos.

You can order online from a vendor, (office depot, staples, borders books, books a million, amazon) paper, envelopes, and books (soft back) to send.

I'm also having a pp in the Connally Unit. And no you can't send stuff to him.
They have a commissary and if you are willing to send a little money to his trustfund they can get something from the commissary.
I only send money to the trustfund when it is his birthday.

ive gotten away with sending book markers but thats about it i sent a small poster i made i havent heard the C (contaband) word on it yet lol we shall see

hey my friend told me they might issue phone cards to prisoners in connally
they are supposed to put in a new phone system that would be fantastic!

I ve done time close to the Connally Unit.......so the tx....mail system huh....basically it is fairly relaxed, on the norm. Now, of course as of June 05 all pornagraphy stopped! Period, all of it, not even softcore. No, inmate to inmate mail stopped in june of 03 ...other than that, no care packages, period! No, snacks, no books, unless by the PUBLISHER only. Amazon, Barnes and Nobles are great sources. No music. Magazines, publisher. Now, while I was n prison, I actually got used books in, FROM A REPUTABLE USED BOOK STORE RETAILER< and they will do research to make sure it is real. So, please dont try to sneak past the mailroom , by sending a fake return address with unverifiable Book Store. It doesnt work, just trust me on that, nor am I saying you would do such a thing. Just FYI... Connally is a fairly wild prison, stays on "Lock Down" a few months out of the year. Maximum Security Unit. Housing some of the more Wild inmates, and or Big Sentences, or "Aggravated Charges" .......well, I know, just about any prison, the mailroom can and will discharge certain documents and photos, that seem in reality on the norm. Phones in The Texas Prisons, HIGHLY i repeat HIGHLY unlikely, theyve been that route b4, lead to to many deaths, via, phone messages, as in: gangs, which about 75% or higher is affiliated in the Tx prison System. Adding phones WILL increase the deaths via Gangs. It wont happen, I WISH it would, but dont count on it, k. Sorry to disappoint you, but Im here to be truthful.

solitary my pal had just writen me another letter saying something about them issuing 8 phone cards a month maybe its just rumors he is heard no word on how much these cards will cost or how long they will be for.I know they listen in and tape record your conversations there! I just wrote him back and said bet they would have to hire extra staff just for the phones alone.on my other thread i just wrote about the annual shakedown oh brother yea it seems they are always in lockdown last year i could have sworn it was most of the year! Strange, very strange.........I just left the Tx prison 3 months ago.
Never heard anything like that. The only way there is any possibility in that is what currently exists being upgraded. O.k. Lets see if my recollection is somewhat correct.....inmates are allowed a phone call once every 3 months if no discipline has been administered (cases) now, these phone calls (to people who appear on the visitation list only, by approval) are collect calls, no calling out to cellphones, it just wont work. Now, possibly, they could buy phone cards, seeing how not everyone's phone will accept collect calls. But if they use a phone card, it will work. These phone calls are monitored and last 5 min. you cant talk about MONEY. That I remember.....THanx for the welcome. Its good to be free
