i got my first call in a long while from my pp. is it terribly wrong to ask "do i know you?" in a straight voice & laugh hysterically when they can't remember who they called!

Wow, I am a bit confused here, it had been the second call in a long time from him? And he did not remember who he was calling? Then you asked do I know you? Have you two been writing weekly? Sorry, just not sure how that can happen? (smile)
