I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get the ball rolling for correspondence chess with inmates....

I have never finished a game with one as it is one move per letter. My significant other has a chest board online and he prints a copy for me to mail to the pp. Then he records each moves received and gives me the next move as chess is not my game (I did play in high school to warm up those on the 'team'). pretty easy and keep correspondence moving for awhile.

You should visit Correspondence Chess With Prisoners organization (website found here). They specialize in setting up players with inmates, and even post the games so people can watch as they evolve. This is the only place you're going to find info on this. Hope this helps!

You can also use the "traditional" way of writing down chess moves, the way players write them down on their official game sheet. For example:
Nxb2 meaning Knight takes the pawn in b2.

Then, all you need is the position on your chess board and your PP on his and y'all you go until someone screams Checkmate. LOL
