What's better to tell, what kind of things should I put in this letter? How personal should it be? I'm feeling a little lost, and I would really help him.

And, maybe a stupid question, but - as I'm not American, how do you address such a letter? Guess there must be some formal way? I don't want to do anything wrong. I feel really lost, and I would feel so even if I had to use my own language.
