Were you looking to date someone or just a friend?
Cause you can have more the one pen pal , many here write more.....
If you were so close connected to your first PP and he didnt write you for 2 weeks, what made you think you werent going to hear from him again?
It is'nt amusing to sit in a prison. And things happen all the time. Think about if you have to watch your back 24x7! We have to have more tolerance with them. We can change our situation. But they can't. I know that all of them suffer some kind of depression. It take a lot of work staying positive in that invironment.
If you are just friends, why cant you write them both? Isnt like you have to introduce them to eachother. The racist issue in prison is a fact, hispanic, white and black! And I belive each of them hold themselves to their group. Not just of hating a other color, but it make you feel more protected. If you google about rape behind bars. You will get a good picture of that. If you think he is too much of a racist and it isnt something you want to deal with. Then you should end the friendship.
To make it easier just write that you have more then one PP, if they got a issue about that. Then you can decide what to do next , but it might be that they really just want a friend and is happy someone write them.

I want to second what sweetcami said if you were that close why only give him 2 weeks? And if you are writing to "lift peoples spirits" maybe you are writing partly for the wrong reasons. They are also people with feelings and many of these guys dont want pity they want friendships people they can talk to that will treat them like human beings. Sorry if i sound harsh but i am allergic to the phrases "lifting spirits" and "putting a smile"

Dont ask for a opinion if you cant deal with the answer! You are just very rude and it isnt apreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing under the sun should be taken personally. Just words on a computer. They have no meaning for most of the population in this world. our journeys are different and everything is in the past. It all good. Life is too short and it all good. K?

If he lie that much...then you would'nt have to ask what to do! Go for the new PP.

You can spread grace around by writing to as many penpals as you want.
But if you've made a committment to one, all the others have to take second place until you're released from your committment. My advice is to not write to more than one person in any one state. There is always the risk that they will end up in the same institution, and that will nearly always cause jealousy: ("I got only one letter this week, you got two, so I'm going to **** your ****ing ****.")
Then you're no comfort to either or any. You've become a problem in at least three lives.
And if you've made a serious committment, then you should write all the others the politest and sweetest "dear john" letter you've ever composed.

Believe me, Sweetie, I've been there.
