Hi guys, I have finally decided to join on the fourm. Although I have been writing to one of my PP for about two months.

I currently have written to three PP. The one I started with has written back. The other two haven't yet but it hasn't been that long and I have no way of knowing if they have written. Anyway, I'm in Canada and we are currently on a post office strike. I can't recieve or send mail at all. I don't want any of my PP to feel like I've forgotten about them. I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas of what I could do?

Also, my orginal PP sent me a peice of paper with his last letter. It had something to do with Postage and sending a cheque... I didn't send it back and wasn't sure what it meant. It looks like something that trhey can fill out for stuff... A little help.

ooops... I hope it isn't true but it sounds to me like the piece of paper may be a coupon for you to put money on his books???? If you hadn't already discussed giving that to him he may be assuming you're going to? Don't send checks, money orders or money wires to anyone unless you know them, have discussed it and agreed with them and yourself that you want to send a gift. If you want to surprise someone you can but don't feel pressured into sending anyone anything!!

Are your pen pals in Canada or the USA? I'm in the USA. I'm sure that the post office strike affects them a lot too if they are in Canada. The priority of inmates is pretty low on the totem pole when it comes to : EVERYTHING!!!! And yeah don't send anyone money or things like that because my husband is in prison and has been for the past 7 years, 7 more to go and a lot of men up there try to do that as a hustle and will write numbers of people asking for money and just use the money to gamble and stuff like that. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that their basic needs aren't being met. The only thing he might need is postage to send letter so you. And in that case, there are websites that you can have prepaid postage envelopes sent directly to him in prison and that way you know it's him wanting to write to you and not just him gambling and buying honey buns and candy every day. Or losing the money because he loses a game of cards or dice.
Be careful. There are a lot of good men but there are A LOT that run game and have hustle so smooth you won't even know what it is until it's too late and you feel like a total moron and upset you ever tried to help someone.
