Default Re: Julia Tutwiler prison for women

Hey there!I did 1 year in Tutwiler for assault. It's pretty rough. It is maximum security because they house all of Alabama's death row inmates. So you have women in there from things like murder to robbing the piggly wiggly. There really should be 2 female institutions in Alabama, but I never see that happening.

I was sent there at 18.I was in there with women that my mom went to high school with..no lie.Alabama does not treat their mentally challenged people like they should by any means!shared a wedge with a woman that suffered from paranoid schitzophrania(excuse my spelling). It was so sad because she was nuts.I dont mean that in a mean and ugly way .She was being given no medication what so ever. The thing is she was mentally ill and was not "marked" as sufering from mental problems.

I don't know if I would write anyone. Not that all females are in there are bad by any means, but your not getting what their medical diagnoisis is up front.

I know I probably sound like a total a** after having read this, but I just dont really know how to put it.

Alabama is so back woods and behind the times.I write a death row inmate up at Holman in Atmore from time to time, and he suffers from paranoid skitozophrania.I write letters for the NCADP,and I really dont know what to say for him other than to fight for him due to the fact that he is mentally ill.He is given no medication what so ever.He is housed with the other death row inmates. It is sad becasue no matter what I write or say to Governor Bob Riley it's like talking to a brick wall.
