I live very close to where his family lived. I know this story well.
I am not defending what he did, nor anti or pro stance on the DP here.
He has not been inside those walls that long, how I interpet the link you placed. He is searching his soul/ mind/spirit/intellect and reviewing his youth.
So, it would be all about me,me me as to his reasoning before and the crime. Now he is forced to face the fire and reflect.
One day maybe years, he may find the heinous crime he commited to his own family enough to a sudden reality fo what horrific thing he had done.
He was part man/boy sad stuff....
Oh also forgot to mention, much truth is in his remarks, how society is part of what some become, not his family just in general to look closely at ourselves..
