Default Re: "The Long Walk" - thoughts/feelings on visits

I really enjoy, and look forward to visits with my PP. I have been visiting at least once a month for just over 3 years. She is locked up in Missouri, and there is a thing called the Food Visit. This takes place when an offender is violation free for 90 days, and on a visit you can bring in real food. six dirrerent items with things like condiments are not included in the count. As everyone knows, prison food is usually less than appealing to the palate. It is really a kick to see how much she enjoys having some real food. The look on her face is priceless, it is a look of pure joy. It does not hurt that I am a pretty good cook, and prepare everything myself. I just wish she could stay violation free. It does not happen too often. So far I have been able to do this only 3 times in as many years. The last time I did this, she made up a plate of food, held it up and told me that if she could take this plate back to her housing unit, she could easily sell it for a minimum of $50.00. I belive her too.

And like I think everyone else, it is rather a sad moment when we have to turn around and go our own way when visiting time is over. I have a 4 hour drive home, and I can tell you that the drive home tends to feel like an 8 hour trip. But when all is done I know that I am doing something that makes both of up happy, even if it is only for a short time. Greg
