Center for Alternative Sentencing & Employment - The Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services was established in 1989 when the Court Employment Project and the Community Service Sentencing Project - originally demonstration projects designed and managed by the Vera Institute of Justice - were gathered under the umbrella of a single, independent non-profit corporation. Cephas Prison Program - There are about 70,000 men and women currently incarcerated in New York State alone. About 95% of these (63,000) will eventually be released. Without support and intervention, 60% will commit other crimes and return to prison. Cephas is dedicated to breaking the cycle of crime for the sake of individuals and the community at large. For over 30 years, 70% of the people who complete the Cephas transitional program remain out of prison.

Community Re-Entry Program - The Community Re-Entry Program (CRP) is designed to approach the transitional problems experienced by the ex-offender, in a holistic and systemic fashion. This involves connecting community resources with the specific problems returned offenders will encounter. The program structure of the "CRP" consist of four components: Mental Health Development; GED/Vocational Training; Job Creation/Business Ventures; and Low-Income Housing Development.
