“MY GALLERY”

My drawings are of course an extension of myself as all our outlets of creativity are. This is a brief explanation of the ones you see as of this post. The character with the flames coming off of his mask is from an anime series that I enjoy. I just wanted to see if I could draw it with a different edge. The portrait of that well-dressed, handsome man is supposed to be of me. It was my first try at drawing reality and it was also an attempt to give you an idea of what I look like. I promise you that I look way less cartoonish than that. I hope someday I can upgrade my drawing skills to real life subjects and objects. My “Welcome” drawing is just a simple greeting for all of you viewers. I thought it would be nice to welcome y’all with a drawing specifically for you. Hope you enjoy it.

A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO'VE REACHED OUT TO ME

Making the choice to contact and develop a connection with a prisoner is not easy and takes courage, faith and an open heart. I admire those traits in each of you and befriending y’all has been nothing short of a blessing. I want to give an extra special shout out to Rachel, who has been a perpetual source of inspiration, beauty and kindness. You are an Angel’s Angel. I care for you all dearly, and the world is a better place because y’all are in it….even if the majority of y’all aren’t Cub fans. Nobody’s perfect. SMAO Gratefully and Respectfully Yours, Stephen

MENTALLY...PHYSICALLY....SPIRITUALLY...

One of my pen pals said she’d like to see me write more personal blogs. Well, here I am. I’m going to begin my PMS….wait….why are you snickering? I’m talking about my “Prisoner Monthly Synopsis.”. You are so immature. Friday, May 6, 2016, 8:22pm Mentally...I should be starting food service soon, which'll complete my Associate's Degree in Multidimensional Thematic Data Acquisition. "What the heck is that?!" you ask. You've probably never heard of this field unless you're like super intelligent. Average people call it "Liberal Studies." Most prisoners call it "Brain Surgery." For me, it's a stepping stone to my "dream" occupation - Neurology. If that doesn't pan out, I'm thinking chef or video game designer as Plan B If that doesn’t pan out, I’m thinking Chef or Video Game Designer as Plan B. Physically….I’m working on turning myself into a chiseled demi-God. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll at least have a more defined physique. Today, I did incline chest press with the 225 barbell and super setted with 55 pound and 65 pound dumbbells. The 225 was a lil’ heavy, and I could only get through 12 sets with it. I know you’re like “OMG!” but let me finish. I was doing 2 negative reps a set til my body gets used to the new weight, which takes like 3 months. So by July/August, I should be flinging that sucker around… Spiritually….I’m writing in a devotional journal I got from a church for Christmas. It helps keep the frustrations of the slammer to a minimum. Plus, it has different weekly themes that touch upon life values. I think having shot someone qualifies me to reevaluate life values, right? Here’s a snippet from one of my entries: Violence is an answer, but it sucks as a solution. (I purposely drop my pen on the floor with confidence that I just blew your mind with that nugget). Til next month with my next PMS…Stephen out.

I’ve got 300 words for a prolific, final blog due to the fact I’m going home soon. But talking about me seems…selfish. So, I’ll talk about you, dear Reader. As you read, you should take a deep breath and exhale. Do that about 3-4 times and then smile. Why smile? Smile because you are free to make any choice your heart desires. You’re free to live your life any way you choose. If you want to get up and go, you can. But not now, you don’t want to be rude, do you? Of course not, you believe you’re a good natured person and don’t make judgments hastily but it’s okay if you do, we all do. Your life is meant for fun, happiness, and excitement. It’s also meant for loss, sorrow and pain. And those negative things don’t have to be bad things. It’s those ugly feelings that mold your life because they are so memorable. Everything that you do now is so that you don’t feel like that again. So you make better choices you think faster; you’ve got experience to rely on. Go you! But don’t stop there, take life a step further and try and make someone else’s life as enjoyable as yours. How? Do something kind for them. Across the globe all people understand kindness just as well as they understand unkindness. You possess the universal language of decency and you shouldn’t be hesitant to use it. It’s truly a gift and if more of our world leaders, our mentors, our friends and our families used it more, we could stop wasting time chasing the illusions of possessions, wealth and status. We could get busy with the task of caring for our Garden of Eden, not destroying it.
