MAIL PROBLEMS
Greetings; I first thank you for taking time in reading this following message, which I write for the purpose of sharing with you of a minor hardship taking place in this prison with my incoming mail. Since I arrived to this prison (on August 14th, 2008) I’ve been constantly hearing prisoners speak about corrupt correctional officers working here, misplacing their incoming mail, provoking friction and confusion amongst us convicts. Shortly after my placement here, this same problem began to arise with my mail. While noticing unfriendly prisoners divulging specific information written in my letters it became obvious that corrupt officers working here were handing them my mail. Due to this ongoing situation it’s been difficult to maintain correspondence with people such as you, wishing to become pen pals. Since I’ve also come to hear about officers who tend to dispose of prisoners’ mail it becomes hard not to imagine them not doing this with mine. Hopefully you’re not discouraged in writing by any of this mentioned herein but instead I pray you’re inspired and motivated to know that I’m in need of a strong willed and courageous friend like you who’s capable of withstanding the affliction and hardships that come along with being my friend. If you wrote me at some point but did not get a response it’s most likely because of something like this happening but please don’t give up easily on me. If, for any strange reason, another prisoner writes you in my place don’t respond but simply contact my lawyer, Rebecca Levy and provide her the name of the person. I appreciate your time and patience. Sincerely yours, Arturo
