A QUESTION OF KARMA

When I was a free man I heard stories of inmates getting adopted. Really? Grown men? I thought it was crazy at the time but now know not to judge it if you haven’t lived it. I consider myself someone who really doesn’t have any family and, after seeing people taking theirs for granted 24/7, I started to question karma. For example, a guy here was totally downgrading women. “They shouldn’t hold positions of power. They deserve lower wages, etc.” An hour later he gets called for a visit (his visitor was probably here an hour before they ever called his name). Who’s here to see him - his girlfriend who sends him mail and money religiously. What does he do? He slowly finishes his card game, takes a half hour shower, primps in the mirror for another ten and then goes. What does he do when he gets back - makes vulgar comments about other women in the visiting room. Once upon a time I would have shown him the error of his ways in a way that would make him never want to break the law again. Not now though; I’ve learned that people like that eventually fall on their own knives. I’m learning patience so I just hope questions karma isn’t questioning God. Is it? I know change doesn’t come overnight, that’s why I’m always open and anxious to learn. I welcome any intelligent thoughts or ideas on this or any other subject. Let me know.

CONSPIRACY THEORIES

In Rome, Caesar kept peoples’ minds off of what was going on by hosting Coliseum games. Today there’s TV, movies, internet, cell phones, sports, etc. Some conspiracy theorists believe a “One World Government” is already in control or is being established, that a Saudi King or Prince really runs the world and governments are building underground cities and bunkers for catastrophic events. They believe media is owned and controlled and all the small wars and government overthrows are scripted and pre-approved. One conspiracy book states that all news stories have to be pre-approved through the Pentagon. Is that why all the news channels or cable run the exact same stories? Why do people automatically freak out at the idea of a One World Government? Would it fail or could it work? Would the millions of people starving mind? Could it end world hunger? There’s a rumor in prison saying that if America is ever attacked, convicts will be executed. The last place I’d want to be is locked in a cell when, “the stuff hits the fan”. Would the guards execute us or leave us to starve to death? Every guard I ask acts like they don’t know but the look in their eyes tells me otherwise. If you compare the time we have on earth to eternity it’s like a blink of an eye. Maybe it’s best to just live in the now and leave it up to God. What do you think?
