HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS ARE PARAMOUNT
I recently read a book entitled West of Kabul, East of New York, an Afghan American story by Tamin Ansary. I enjoyed the book. I was struck by something said on pages 206 and 207, which I feel is profoundly true, but in a busy world, easy to overlook. “That human relationships are the only things that are utterly irreplaceable. A human relationship, when it’s gone, it’s finished. And anything you might feel sorry for, there is not correcting it. And anything you planned to do together, that’s finished too. There is no replacing a relationship.” And, “My irreplaceable loved ones gave my life whatever value it had”. I agree with these passages. I feel life is so very short. Family and friendship are paramount. Love, friendship and acts of kindness are the most significant things that can be effected. ~Brian Duckett 10-31-10
