WE GET NERVOUS WRITING YOU TOO!

1st Texas’ prison system is not conducive to one’s own notion of scheduling, so no more “saying” when I’ll post blogs. They’ll be there. That said, I’ve absolutely no idea what to say! That’s exactly where we’ll begin – where each and every one of our pen pal relationships begin. The uncertainty of how to proceed with befriending someone who (1) you’ve never known of or laid eyes on; (2) is Creator knows what kind of person; and (3) is a convict! The last being catalyst for all manner of stereotypes, right and alas, being the wonderfully open-minded people you are, you give us a try – big ups to you! Well, try this cap on for size: Ever consider that we too wrestle with the notion of giving you a try? That, for some of us at least, posting ourselves is a mega-exposition of the nakedness of our need for companionship, or communication with other than our dominoes partners and work out crews? Or that we’re grasping for reasons to believe in good people, dependable, women, humanity as a whole; reasons that the specters of our bad experiences are struggling to asphyxiate? Feelings, insecurities, exist on both sides of the post person’s route. Making a good old fashioned Bush like Texas hijacking of the prison presidency, I’ll attempt to represent my constituency by offering a few tips to consider when considering giving us a whirl: (1) Have no fear of saying or asking anything. How else will you know what you want to know, express what you want to express?! At worst you’ll be asked not to go there. At best you’ll grow exponentially through free flowing communication, learning from and teaching each other. (2) Don’t be that person who contacts us, receives a reply you aren’t exactly feeling so leaves us, giving the officer doing mail call puppy eyes as they pass our cell without a glance. Set a range, say 5-6 letters, to see how it evolves before calling the friendship undevelopable; and (3) Be considerate. If for some reason you decide not to continue writing, send a card or note saying so. Any real man or woman will respect that and there’ll be no discouragement towards a continued search. Let the way we treat one another be the most beautiful thing about us. Until again comes…peace & love. Upcoming topic: Since when did love become a curse word?!
