Hi, my name is Joseph but my friends call me Joey. I’m 6’1” tall, 200 pounds with brown eyes. I’m mostly a mix of Italian and Russian Jew, and I was born and raised near Boston, Massachusetts, with the accent to prove it.
I wish I could change the past, but nothing I do now can undo the past or turn back the clock. I know, however, that the future is purchased with the present, so although I can’t change the past, I work hard to change myself.
I’m a member of the Restorative Justice Group and we work hard to grow restorative justice practices and promote peace and healing here and in the outside community. I’m also a member of an education program that has given me the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. College has been transformational for me. I also read, write, and speak Spanish. I love cooking, learning about other cultures and doing CrossFit.
I’m an optimist and one thing about is is: I “Keep it Positive.” Rather than focus on the negatives of prison life, I thank God for the blessings I do have. My faith keeps me humble and I make time every day to study, meditate and pray.
Do you believe in coincidences or that everything happens for a reason?
I love to smile and make people smile.
Write soon and feel free to ask me anything.
