I am 67, in prison continuously since 1977, convicted of murder. First sentenced to death but that was overturned by California Supreme Court in 1980. Sentenced to 7 years to life, eligible for parole in 1984. Why no parole yet? Wasn’t for being bad. I’ve not had a rule violation since 1979. Had a lawsuit that changed the conditions of Death Row. Prison system doesn’t like losing. And also I won’t admit to the crime at parole hearings.
Have five journeyman trades in the construction field and built custom homes prior to prison. Was married while on Death Row but auto accident disabled her causing divorce.
I am 6 feet tall, weigh 200 pounds, have no medical problems of any kind, in surprisingly good health for an old guy. Never had problems with alcohol, never used drugs and though I smoked I have no desire for them now.
Family and friends before prison are deceased due to being here so long, now receive about one letter per month so am hoping to find someone to write, to tell me about themselves, what they do, hobbies and such, allowing me a small amount of freedom through their life. I’m a guy who likes to build things, wood, metal, plastic or cement.
My life at this point s is pretty much an open book so I don’t mind whatever questions you have, just write and share whatever you feel comfortable with and I’ll answer.
Thank you for your time,
Tom
