Hello to everyone out there. I hope that what follows will inspire or touch each person who reads it.
When I was 19 years old I shot and killed a man. A jury sentenced me to 75 years in prison. While in prison I got another 5 year sentence added to the original 75 years. Do I need to go into details about the lifestyle I was living? Do I need to say which path I followed? God gave me the freedom to act however I wanted and I basically did.
I did not like who I was or who I was going to be. I could see myself in the future, a bitter old man. God patiently waited on me to turn to Him. I asked God, help me God, I will try to do better and He did. I began to try to live as God wanted. Only small steps, but I took that first step. God came into my life and began to change me and continues to change me. All I had to do was turn to Him, He was always there, patiently waiting.
If God can help me, He can help anyone. He can help you or someone you know. He is waiting, patiently, lovingly. If you do not have a relationship with God, please turn to Him.
After 24 years, in December 2015, I was given parole. I am now doing the 5 year sentence I got in 1998. I will be leaving this place in 18 months to 4 years, not a perfect man but a changed man. I thank God each day for his many blessings and gifts, for not giving up on me.
