This Is Me

This is me, the beauty that God created me to be.

This is me, with a smile so bright only divine eyes could truly see.

This is me, my caramel skin and confidence deep within.

This is me, a big sister, a wife and mother.

This is me, a survivor, striver and believer.

This is me, a leader and never a follower.

This is me, a woman of color brighter than any rainbow.

This is me, knowledge, wisdom and intelligence.

This is me, and not who you want me to be.

This is me, and I am who God made to be and who I truly want to be.

My name is Sandie Parker and I’m 24 years old.  I’m currently serving a 14 year sentence.  I have 8 years left to serve.  I’m currently seeking friendship and maybe, later down the road, a relationship.  I’ve been through a lot due to trusting my ex and that’s how I ended up in prison.  I am lesbian and have been since I was 17.  My ex and I were together on the street and we’re also in the same prison.  But we do not communicate with each other in any way. 

I like to draw, write poetry, read any kind of books.  I strongly believe that the best way to start a friendship is with honesty first.  I want to know that I can trust the people or person around me.  Loyalty is also a big factor to me.  I am and always have been 100% loyal to anyone I meet.  My mom has always told me that loyalty, trust and honesty will take you far in life.  I found that to be true because almost everyone I’ve ever talked to on any level believes in those 3 main things.  I still have a lot of friends because of these things alone.  Basically that’s all I ask for in friendships.

I’m currently studying to receive my GED.  I’m going to try to get enrolled in college courses.  Well, I’m hoping to make a lot of new friends.  I do admit this time in my life is hard.  I don’t currently have a picture of myself but I assure you all that I am not ugly on the outside or the inside.
