Hello, (smile)

My name is Eric and I’m interested in forming a friendship with someone I can talk to, listen to, and spend some time with. Although it is friendship I seek, I do prefer friendship with a woman because I’m surrounded by other men all day and I miss having the company of women to talk to.

I was born and mostly raised in Tuscon, Arizona, but have lived in a few other places, including upstate New York. I’ve included two pictures of myself, which were taken several years apart. The one in blue is about 14 years ago, when I was 21. The one in orange is most recent, from December 2008.
When people see my last name they usually think it’s Spanish, so even Spanish speakers often mispronounce it, but it’s actually Portuguese and translates into fisherman.
I don’t have any children yet; something I’m thankful for that since I’ve made some bad choices and spent a significant amount of time in prison.

I’ve done about 11 years altogether. In the past, I just allowed myself to get caught up in the negative lifestyle in here, but a few years ago I decided to change that and I’ve completely renounced that lifestyle and the people involved with it. I’ve been really focused on improving myself these last few years and part of that has included identifying what path certain actions and choices will lead me down and understanding the consequences. I’ve realized how the outcome is usually preceded by a series of other choices that may put us in a vulnerable or jeopardized position. I’m also spending a lot of time studying the career path I’ve chosen. I’m preparing for something I’m passionate about, but also something with a realistic opportunity for success.

I’m really open-minded and have no specific requirements of who I’d like to meet other than a kind-hearted person. I feel like friends can come from different walks of life and different backgrounds. I grew up involved with gangs at a young age, but I was never just that type of person and held interests and friends outside that lifestyle. This is even more true now that I’ve completely abandoned that life and have opened myself up to evolve.

I have various interests that are across the board, ranging from wanting to skydive to enjoying putting puzzles together. So I enjoy the exciting, but also the more sedate and calm hobbies in life.
One of the things that fascinates me most is the universe and existence…period. No matter one’s belief, how did it come to be in the first place? There’s a lot of things out there, but just looking to our sun: It’s 90 million miles away, yet it is so massive and powerful we can’t stand to stare at it; it burns us, causes cancer and its solar flares disrupt our communication systems, at times. 90 million miles away! Amazing!

My favorite book is Les Miserables (Victor Hugo) I’d love to see that movie musical that was released. The book evokes so many different emotions that at times I had to hurry up and dry my eyes if anybody passed my cell while I was reading it. (smile) Others include Gone with the Wind, Scarlett, and Don Quixote. Hilarious! I guess I can relate since I’ve had some good laughs at myself for doing some Don Quixoti-esh things. (smile) But like songs, there are so many good ones from different genres to even mention. That pretty much describes me in general; that I’m not limited to one certain category or personification, including friends.
